The following issues have been reported in version 1.0 of this book. They’ll all be addressed in the second edition (due in mid-2016), which will also add quite a bit of other new and revised information.
CrashPlan Pricing: Since version 1.0 of this book was submitted for publication, CrashPlan made some pricing changes—individual users can pay $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year for unlimited backups from one computer; family subscriptions (for up to 10 computers) are now $13.99 per month or $149.99 per year. Discounts for buying multi-year subscriptions are no longer available.
Disk Utility Changes in El Capitan: Disk Utility is very much different in OS X 10.11 El Capitan, and as a result, all the instructions involving Disk Utility need updating.
No more Secure Empty Trash in El Capitan: El Capitan also removed the Secure Empty Trash feature mentioned on p. 171, so securely deleting old backups is now more complicated.
