Friday Report: January 27, 2023

This week, after sending out a quick bug-fix update to the new edition of my book Take Control of Apple Mail, we released a new version of Glenn Fleishman’s Take Control of Home Security Cameras, which also has a new, lower price.

On Monday, we’ll finally release the long-awaited update to Rosemary Orchard’s Take Control of Shortcuts, which will add coverage of iOS 16/iPadOS 16 and macOS 13 Ventura. The writing and editing are done, and I’ll deal with all the production steps over the weekend.

I’ve done quite a bit of work on the update to my iCloud book, but I had to pause that to prepare for the iCloud class I’m teaching tomorrow for the Naples (Florida) MacFriends User Group. After that, I can wrap up my work on not only the iCloud update but also the next update to Take Control of Backing Up Your Mac. With luck, one or both of those could be published by the end of next week.

Although my to-do list remains unreasonably long, I am making progress! I’m extremely optimistic about February—if I had to guess, I’d say we’re looking at updates to five or more of my own books, plus a couple by other authors. And the machine will continue churning away until they’re all done.

That’s it for this week. See you in February!
