Friday Report: October 2, 2020

This week we released version 1.1 updates to two of our books. Take Control of Apple Watch by Jeff Carlson now covers watchOS 7 as well as the new (Series 6 and SE) watch models, while Take Control of Shortcuts by Rosemary Orchard covers iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 (plus the new Shortcuts app in watchOS 7). So, our fall releases are moving right along…but we still have as many as two dozen additional releases we’re going to try to get through in the remaining 13 weeks of 2020. (Odds are some of them will slip into 2021, but we’ll get as many out the door this year as we can.)

Although we’re all doing our very best to write, edit, publish, fix bugs, and so on, we’re distracted and anxious, just like you. Everyone involved with Take Control has been affected in one way or another by the events of 2020—the pandemic, the wildfires, the police brutality, the chaotic U.S. election, and all the rest. We all work at home and most of us have kids, who are also at home being educated in one way or another (with varying levels of success). And we all have Things Going On in life—you know, home and car repairs, health issues, family challenges, and other work obligations besides Take Control. So, just saying…we appreciate your patience and understanding.

I originally wrote much more here, then decided I didn’t like it and hit Delete. I think that for this week, the best thing is just to get back to work. More books—and more thoughts—next week. See you then.
