1Password 4 for Windows and Android Now Available

AgileBits has released all-new versions of 1Password for Windows and Android, bringing both of those platforms close to feature parity with 1Password 4 for OS X and iOS. I’ll let you read the linked articles for details, but some of the highlights are as follows.

For Windows:

  • New and greatly improved browser extensions
  • Multiple vaults
  • Watchtower integration
  • Favorites
  • Security Audit
  • Tags
  • Wi-Fi sync to iOS

For Android:

  • Full read, write, and edit support
  • Password generator
  • Favorites
  • Built-in browser
  • Syncing via Dropbox or Folder
  • PIN code

I will eventually update Take Control of 1Password to cover all these new features. For now, if you’re using Windows, you can read about the OS X version and assume that most of the features work similarly; and if you’re using Android, you can read about the iOS features. These won’t match up precisely, but they’ll get you in the ballpark.

In case you’re wondering about the word “eventually” above, it seems likely that 1Password for OS X will receive significant updates for Yosemite and that 1Password for iOS will receive significant updates for iOS 8. Both of those operating systems are due in late 2014, so rather than update the book twice, my current plan is to update it just once to cover the changes on all four platforms.
